Note: Closing the dialog erases all highlighting.<br /> <br /> Highlighting is updated whenever the search pattern (or any of the related options), incrementally changes, i.e. occurrences are highlighted as the user types the search pattern or changes options like {{field|Search|Match case}}, {{field|Search|Whole words}}, {{field|Search|RegExps}}, etc.<br /> <br /> Users can freely modify the document while highlighting is in place. Individual pieces of highlighted text may get unhighlighted when directly modified. Note: Highlighting does not refresh itself automatically even when new potential occurrences are created in the text. Toggle {{field|Search|Match case}} (or another checkbox related to the {{field|Search|Find}} pattern) to refresh the highlighting properly.<br /> <br /> Since there are two searches, the {{feature|primary search}} and the {{feature|secondary search}}, there are also two separate highlightings possible, and can be shown at the same time. If the user opnes the the {{dialog|Search bar}}, changes the pattern and then closes the dialog without using {{button|Search|Next}} or other &quot;selection-moving searches&quot;, the old search pattern is retained in the {{feature|Config}}. The same principle applies for collecting search history. Highlighting does not perform a regular {{feature|Search}}, it merely searches for all the occurrences.<br /> <br /> {{tip}} {{field|Search|Highlight all}} shows &lt;q&gt;Total matches&lt;/q&gt; directly in the {{dialog|Search bar}}. This value only gets updated when the {{dialog|Search bar}} actually runs an incremental search. The first phase quickly finds as much as it can within a short period of time, to avoid interfering with typing new search patterns. The second phase, running through the rest of the document, is then delayed by a few seconds (and the delay gets even longer with bigger documents, up to 5 seconds in total).</div>
