Tip: Result of the last Check for Updates is also displayed in the Status Bar as a hint from time to time.
See also /u Check for Updates command line parameter.
AutoCheck for Updates
If the Check for updates setting is turned on, AutoCheck for Updates attempts to check for available updates each week. The check is performed in the background by connecting to the application homepage upon launching the application. If a new version is found, message is displayed with the option to open the download page.
Tip: Result of the last AutoCheck for Updates is also displayed in the Status Bar as a hint from time to time.
Note: Check for Updates and AutoCheck for Updates cannot automatically download and upgrade the application yet. Upgrade must be done manually.
Note: Weekly checks for updates require the Config to be writable in order to assess passing weeks. If the Config is read-only for any reason, the checks for updates are performed on sparse random basis to prevent a new check each time the application is started.

Utility Info (Shift+F1)
Shows the Utility Info dialog with runtime information about current memory usage statistics.
The Compact button in the Editbox section reduces the memory consumed by the application by compacting the buffer, line and marker indexes, deallocating any excess memory, etc.
Fun stuff: The application complains when you use this button, but is duly compacts nevertheless.
The Clear All Steps button in the Undo + Redo section removes all Undo and Redo steps, freeing all memory occupied by them. This can help free enough memory to be able to continue working with the application, or at least save the document.
Important: This cannot be undone, once removed, those Undo and Redo steps are trully gone.
More info
Fun stuff: Have you noticed ODO, an odometer? And Trip, a current trip meter?
Trivia: Text within TED Notepad is always buffered in a tree-like structure. This is to support prompt responses even on really huge files. However, there is a small price to pay; a bit of extra memory is necessary to maintain this tree structure. Fortunatelly, the amount of memory required is insignificant compared to the amount of text it can then handle. Nevertheless, it may be interesting to know how much it is exactly. Plus some info about what's in the undo queue, that's always handy. And some other things.
